ABOUT WBARC

WOOD BUFFALO ANIMAL RESCUE COMMITTEE

WBARC (Formerly Fort Chip Animal Rescue) is based out of Fort McMurray and is run completely by volunteers who have dedicated their time and love to help rescue animals in need. The rescue was formed to help the remote community of Fort Chipewyan with the over population of stray and unwanted dogs. The group started off small with just a couple of dedicated members and has grown to have many volunteers and foster families and expanded to the communities in and around Fort Mcmurray.

Rescued animals are placed in the safety of foster homes while awaiting suitable placement in fur-ever, adoptive homes. We provide the animals with veterinary care, basic training, food, love and support while in foster care, as we search for appropriate adoptive homes for them.

We believe we can make a difference in the lives of individual animals and work towards addressing the bigger issues through educational initiatives. We pride ourselves on the relationships we've built in our community, while our goal is to find solutions the work for both animals and people.

OUR MISSION

To provide veterinary care and foster homes to animals who have been abandoned or surrendered by their owners until we can find them forever homes. Our goal is to place the right animal with the right person to ensure a successful adoption.
